Instructor Bio

Rebeca Maule贸n is an internationally renowned musician and educator specializing in Afro-Caribbean and Latin American music. From her recording and performing work with legends including Tito Puente, Carlos Santana, Steve Winwood, Joe Henderson, Israel L贸pez 鈥淐achao鈥 and Mickey Hart, to her critically-acclaimed recordings, Maule贸n is one of the most multifaceted artists on the world music scene. She is the author and co-editor of the Salsa Guidebook, 101 Montunos  and Latin Real Book (Sher Music Co), and co-authored a new book with legendary Cuban pianist Chucho Vald茅s entitled Decoding Afro-Cuban Jazz: The Music of Chucho Vald茅s and Irakere (Sher Music, 2018). Maule贸n is professor of the Roots Jazz & American Music (RJAM) program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, tenured professor at City College of San Francisco, and is Director of Education at SFJAZZ (San Francisco Jazz Organization). She is also an acclaimed clinician specializing in Afro-Cuban and Latin American music and performance practice.
