My teaching philosophy and approach?
I am passionate about ideas, and I'm fascinated with how they are communicated. I am convinced that the study of ideas as they are expressed in writing -- whether in the form of college essays or works of literature -- is one of the most practical things you can do in college. It is the most sure-fire way of developing critical thinking skills and becoming an effective communicator, of becoming smart. I also believe it is the best way to learn to love things you might never have known about, and to become a finer human.
